Mens Hoops = YoYo City
Seriously, I know how you feel... you feel like I do and like all Rammies Fans and players feel... like a freakin' YoYo... Last night the Rammies added another lowlight to the season -- not the lowest point -- but pretty bad. A 45-67 loss on the road at the hands of the Utah Utes. This folks was your #6 in the NCAA 3 point shooting Rams - coming into the game at 42% on the season. Last night they nailed a paltry sub-20%. Ouch.

Let's look at some of the other highlights, and lowlights, and highlights, and lowlights, well you get the idea...

Your CSU Rams now stand at 13-10 overall and 4-6 conference. That's mediocre. It's above .500 ball overall, but considering three wins came against Denver (the Pioneers in their first year of Division I ball), Yale (who probably last had a good hoops team when Bush was there), and Cal State Sacramento -- we're mediocre at best right now. Feel better yet?

Remember a highlight? Yeah, this CSU Ram team is the one that beat BYU (W 60-55) and Utah (W73-65) in a two day span at home in January. That was fun!

Then came the one point loss to Air Force (L 45-46) -- yes the perennial WAC/Mountain West cellar dweller... Sheesh, the Rammies owned a thirteen, that's THIRTEEN, game win streak against the zoomies - home and away! Kiss that streak goodbye.  We did however boast a 19-15 lead at halftime! Woo-hoo!

Okay, so I'm being harsh, but I had us pegged as more of a dark horse this year than an underdog... losing to Air Force, well that makes us one of their two conference wins in 10 tries. It's a bummer, a downer, buzzkill, dejection, depression, disillusionment, disappointment, disheartenment, grievousness, malaise, dispiritedness, morose, disparaging... okay my thesaurus is tired so I'll stop, but you get the point!

Oh, need I mention the 1 point loss at home to the Cowpokes (16-7, 7-3) and the two point loss in Laramie? Oy... it hurts.

Where to from here? Well, the remaining schedule takes us home to host New Mexico (16-8, 5-5). After that we host the Falcons (7-17, 2-8) for a shot at redemption. Then we go to the tournament ineligible Rebels (15-11, 6-5) in Las Vegas and then close the season in sunny San Diego against the Aztecs (12-12, 2-9). Okay, quick math - that's two teams with winning records and two teams with losing records. I'll take the Rammies to go 2-2 for sure, and maybe surprise us at 3-1. 2-2 closes our season at 15-12 and 6-6 conference. A bubble NIT team at best. 3-1 gets us 16-11 7-6 conference... so pray for an upset against the Lobo's. What do you think? Where are the Rams headed down the stretch? What are the post-season scenarios if any? Let me know at [email protected]

Excuse me but...
... we *WILL* be playing this game in Denver - that's the CSU-CU Rocky Mountain Showdown. You all read the commentary and news... apparently CU wanted to take the next game home to Folsom. They cried revenue, but other sentiment is they wanted home field advantage to avoid further embarrassment from another loss to CSU.

I'm just excited that we'll be participating in the first football game at the new Invesco Mile High at Mile High Field Invesco Stadium, or whatever it is... (is that true -- is it the first football game there or does someone out there know differently...)

Also, I think we've got our work cut out for us against the Beefaloes next year... Ochs and Houston... hopefully the Wussaloes will create another needles quarterback controversy for themselves -- and I'd sure like it if the Offensive Coordinator who called the last game we won was back!
